Job Description

We’re busier than ever with Biofuels, Oil & Gas and Carbon Capture technologies. We believe in the power of decarbonization in our fight to tackle climate change. Our teams are developing ground-breaking programs in biofuel development, hydrogen production development, and carbon dioxide capture and long-term storage landscape, to name just a few.

By joining our team, your role as engineer will be to participate in instrumentation and control mandates. You will also contribute to various phases of engineering and site work. As such, you may be asked to help with preparing proposals, technological choices and solutions proposed to clients.

More specifically, you will be asked to:

  • Develop and maintain lasting client relationships.
  • Listen to clients and meet their high expectations.
  • Participate in defining the scope of projects and proposals.
  • Allocate and review the work of collaborators assigned to projects.
  • Assess the technical scope of projects.
  • Get involved in commissioning.

Technical aspect

  • Prepare engineering work packages
  • Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (P&IDs, localization drawings, I/O, loop and motor control schemes, cable and instrument lists, and installation details).
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA and other safety related reviews, as required.
  • Draft reports, specifications, including construction and purchasing specifications, and calls for tenders.
  • Prepare data sheets and select control instruments (flow, pressure, level) and valves.
  • Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical/instrumentation).
  • Interact with other engineering disciplines.
  • Perform inspections or technical surveys.

Client service

  • Interact with clients and provide technical support to the team in charge of business development.
  • Establish and maintain client contacts.
  • Establish client needs and identify new needs throughout the project.
  • Participate in commercial and technical proposal preparation.

  • Undergraduate degree in Automated Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering
  • At least five years of relevant experience as an instrumentation and control engineer or an equivalent combination of training and experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Knowledge, interpretation and application of the Electrical Code, ISA, NFPA, ANSI and others
  • Expertise in pre-operational verifications and equipment start-up
  • Available for short- and long-term assignments at client offices or sites
  • Proficiency in project management, technical writing and cost estimation
  • Member of a Canadian professional engineering association
  • Asset: Bilingual (English and French)
  • Asset: Experience with SIS and SIL ratings
