Description

BBA has an exciting new opportunity for a structural engineer to join our Toronto office to support our projects in the natural resources and energy sectors, including: renewables, mining and metals, pulp and paper, biofuels, oil and gas markets.

Your role as a structural engineer will include:

• Prepare engineering documents for the design of works for projects in the following sectors: industrial, mining and metals, energy, oil and gas, environment and sustainable development, etc.

• Carry out the design of concrete and steel structures as well as foundations for buildings and equipment.

• Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.)

• Prepare proposals, technical specifications and reports.

• Contribute to work planning, organization and evaluation.

• Cultivate and maintain friendly, close relations with colleagues and clients or their representatives.

• Assist in the preparation of estimates, schedules and budgets, where required.

• Participate in site work supervision, when required.

• Carry out other technical duties to assist with the completion of projects.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering

Professional Engineer registered in Ontario, with eligibility to register in other Canadian provinces/territories

At least 5 years of experience designing steel and/or concrete structures

Advanced knowledge of structural design software: ROBOT, SAP2000, S-Frame

Knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD.

Good knowledge of current applicable design codes for industrial building structures – steel and concrete (NBC, S16.1, A23.3), and welding code W59.

Ability to read drawings

Knowledge of work site supervision

Available for occasional travel to client sites

Asset: Experience in dynamic analysis of structures

Asset: Experience with finite element analysis

Asset: Bilingual (English and French)
