Our Western Canadian Electrical Engineering Team is growing! Our growth in the Energy, Industrial and Mining sectors leads us to search for passionate, innovative and entrepreneurial professionals with remarkable team spirit. As an Junior Electrical Engineer in our Trail office, you will contribute to the execution of projects related to electrical systems that will encourage you to excel, both at the office and on site. You’ll also have opportunities to work closely with colleagues from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Sudbury, Montréal, Mont-Saint-Hilaire and Labrador City. • Work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, designers and drafters in the preparation of deliverables to BBA and client standards
• Prepare and present engineering deliverables such as reports, studies, estimates, budgets, schedules, drawings, calculations, specifications, quotations, and proposals
• Perform electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, protection, arc flash, and grounding
• Develop and implement work methods for the execution of project work
• Perform site inspections, testing and commissioning at client sites
• Plan and monitor work assignments
• Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders

Overview of certifications and job requirements

• For this position, we are looking for candidates with the following experience
• Electrical Engineering Degree, or similar
• 0 to 4 years of relevant project experience
• Registered or able to register with EGBC as an EIT
• A valid class 5 BC driver’s licence
• Excellent communication skills with high competency in English (both spoken and written)
• Ability to travel on short notice to customer sites and other BBA offices
• Experience preparing, editing and reviewing technical documents such as drawings, studies, reports, specifications, calculations, plans, and instructions
• Experience with power system studies such as load flow, protection, arc flash, grounding, NERC compliance

The following experience will be valued, but is not necessary:

• Practical knowledge and experience with generation, transmission and distribution power systems
• Knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical equipment specifications, testing and commissioning
• Knowledge of standards and codes such as IEEE, IEC, CEC or NEC
• Experience with ETAP, PSSE, SKM Power Tools, CYME, DSA Tools, WinIGS, or other software packages
• Experience collecting field data
• Experience with MATLAB and Python
