Lead Material Handler

This role requires flexibility to work in all the 3 shifts (Days, Afternoons & Nights).

What will you do?

To stage and organize materials to meet production schedules in the Processing area. To ensure required materials/bulks/components in appropriate quantities are approved by Quality. Conduct physical inventory and investigation to control/verify the accuracy of information and materials.


  • Coordination and delivery of materials to/from processing areas.
  • Support kitting of raw materials in the dispensing area.
  • Monitor processing schedule to ensure that jobs are staged and delivered in a timely manner
  • Complete necessary inspections and reconcile material usage for presence and correctness
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure timely release of raw materials and components as required.
  • Assist in the control and security of narcotics pallets during transit, finished goods, and arranging delivery and pick up of narcotics to and from the vault.
  • Accurately complete batch documents including batch entries, checks, labour reporting, and downtime.
  • Print Material Request List and all relevant documentation.
  • Conduct inventory control transactions using SAP.
  • Responsible for removing dispensed goods from the processing area (incl. wrap & label).
  • Communicate with affected departments to ensure materials available when needed.
  • Responsible for providing training to junior Material Handlers or temporary employees (if necessary).
  • Comply with established safety regulations and wear the prescribed safety equipment (ongoing).
  • Provide support in monitoring performance measures and notify management of potential quality or regulatory issues that may affect product quality or regulatory issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
How will you get there?

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or food processing plant
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Good computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organization skills and an ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Sound knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations
  • Willing and able to perform shift work
  • Proficiency in the English Language
  • Previous experience with manual and electrical lift trucks would be an asset
  • Self-starter who works independently
  • Experience in coaching, leading, and/or supervising a group or project preferred
