Job Overview

Responsible for supporting and developing multiple distribution channels, with focus on our Group Insurance line of business. The candidate may also support our individual line of business and national accounts. The role will be responsible for inbound/outbound calls and/or emails. The Life Insurance Specialist will focus on building relationships with our agents and growing our business, by answering inquiries, training, identifying selling opportunities and promoting our products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interact directly with agents to promote our products, tools and services through inbound/outbound calls and emails and establish rapport and build relationships with our current agent network.
  • Provide support to agents by assisting them with contracting, licensing and commission inquiries, product inquiries, building insurance quotes, software inquiries, and marketing material questions.
  • Understand and have the ability to complete the entire sales process, while remaining compliant.
  • Use a database to track inbound/outbound calls: who was contacted, what was discussed, and when to follow-up.
  • Become an expert on all offerings to communicate and promote Wawanesa Life products throughout all sales channels.
  • Onboard new agents, including processing contracting forms and training new agents
  • Research technical issues to keep informed on agency services, i.e.: contracting and licensing regulations and procedures.
  • Become familiar with marketing materials available: brochures, posters, flyers, bulletins, memos, product guides, PowerPoint presentations, broker software.
  • Learn underwriting and new business to assist agents in soliciting business and to complete own sales.
  • Assist with general department office needs, and perform other duties as assigned, including covering other desks during absences, completing reports, and assisting supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to individuals with a post-secondary education degree/diploma.
  • License to sell life insurance products required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a customer service/insurance role.
  • Proven experience/knowledge of life insurance products.
  • Group Insurance experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Proven experience/knowledge of investment products.
  • Proven experience/skill in dealing with conflict/negotiation.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective, professional relationships.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Have creative and technical skills, ability to problem-solve, and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as listening skills.
  • Have confidence when, and enjoy, speaking to individuals over the phone.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Service oriented, with a positive attitude and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Ability to take initiative and act effectively in various circumstances.
  • Proven track record of trustworthiness, dependability and ethical behavior.
