Maintenance & Engineering
Manager

Domtar Inc., Dryden Operations, is currently seeking an individual to become part of our leadership team. A progressive community set between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, Dryden offers excellent medical, educational and recreational facilities.

Reporting to the mill manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Maintenance, Reliability & Engineering teams. As a member of the senior management team, you will be responsible for developing short, intermediate and long-term strategies for improving the critical elements of the maintenance operations.

More specifically, you will:

  • Ensure the efficient and cost-effective management of the overall maintenance, engineering and reliability processes and activities to ensure maximum equipment reliability and assets preservation.
  • Ensure all planned projects are implemented on time, on budget and meet the stated objective.
  • Monitor the predictive, preventative, asset care programs and equipment downtime to ensure equipment is functioning at optimal levels for operational success.
  • Lead and develop the Maintenance, Reliability & Engineering teams.
  • Ensure capital, maintenance and repair budgets are prepared, met and variances explained with appropriate action taken as required.
  • Ensure that health & safety consideration are paramount in the day-today execution of the work.
  • Demonstrated success in leading change and driving improvement.

The ideal candidate:

  • You will hold a degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ of maintenance experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated success implementing/optimizing reliability maintenance systems and processes.
  • Excellent leadership skills that include a proven ability to coach and develop team members to a higher level of performance.
  • A strong background in developing and managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing and problem solving ability.
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral, as well as highly developed interpersonal skills.
