True Key Hotels & Resorts proudly manages Nootka Marine Adventures at the Moutcha Bay Resort, located at the mouth of the Conuma River just 40 minutes west of Gold River, in the beautiful sheltered waters of Nootka Sound, BC. It is easily accessible by car, float plane or boat. This position is available for Moutcha Bay Resort.

Position Requirements for Live-In Fishing Resort Maintenance Worker. Supporting the seasonal operation May-September and care taking responsibilities October-April.

This position requires and energetic motivated person with the willingness to learn. We are a busy resort and require motivated workers who can adapt to an ever changing environment. You will be responsible for a variety of duties around the resort, most of which require physical labour. Experience in this field would be an asset but are willing to train the right candidates. Required education:

  • High school or equivalent
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Class 5 drivers license
  • SVOP considered an asset
  • Heavy duty equipment operating experience an asset

Position Requirements (include but not limited to):

  • Knowledge of best practices from working within a luxury property is desired.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • General understanding of landscaping and how to use appropriate tools.
  • Dedication to the guest experience and resort cleanliness.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels including guests, co workers and vendors.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to walk, stand and crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs repeatedly through a day.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Adhere to health & safety rules & regulations.

Position Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Maintain grounds, docks and buildings
  • Monitor and maintain water system, diesel generator and waste water treatment plant
  • Prepare camp sites for guest arrivals and departures
  • Assist with road dust control in warmer weather
  • Help guests with luggage and supplies
  • Fuel vehicles and ATV’s
  • Assist in unloading supply truck
  • Upkeep of facility landscaping
  • Clean and maintain resort vehicles
  • Assist with compost disposal and recycling
  • Clean and maintain facility washrooms, ensure always well supplied
  • Pickup and unload firewood for guests
  • General maintenance duties including interior and exterior housekeeping such as sweeping, litter pick up, shoveling, pressure washing, painting, light bulbs, picture hanging etc
  • Help maintain roads and parking lots
  • Know and fully understand the fire safety systems and emergency plans for the facility
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including preventative maintenance
  • Keep all areas of the lodge clean, tidy and free of hazards
  • Perform emergency duties as required within the scope of your training
  • Participate in crew safety meetings
  • Check, maintain and refill propane and fuel as needed
  • Ensure financially responsible ordering and ensure supplies are readily available
  • Assist guests with questions, boat launch, small boat rentals
  • Handle oils, fuels, solvents and chemicals in a safe manner that is consistent with environmental regulations
  • Adhere to WHMIS training
  • Ensure safety and confidentiality of our owners, guests and employees.
  • Assist other departments as necessary including fish processing, housekeeping, kitchen, dock shack and front desk
