Job Purpose

The Manager of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) is responsible for governing Scotiabank’s project portfolio, supporting divisional portfolio management offices (DPMOs) and enhancing project/portfolio management processes.

This position is a key governance function and will provide guidance for the project management community, with a strong focus on guiding DPMOs and project managers (where required). The incumbent is also responsible for the development and continued enhancement of reporting processes and tools leveraged by EPMO.

Key Accountabilities

Support the testing of projects against Enterprise policies and standards.

  • Develop a risk-based framework for testing adherence and measuring portfolio health.
  • Perform detailed testing, drawing insights and conclusions on the level of adherence and delivery effectiveness in achieving objectives and commitments.

Support portfolio governance and monitoring by working closely with DPMOs to ensure compliance and recommending mitigations for material non-compliance.

  • Strong relationship management.
  • Practice, advocate change management methods and practices.

Departmental management and continuous improvement.

  • Build and maintain a control and process repository for EPMO (for audit purposes).
  • Management of DPMO coordination and facilitation; specifically, coordinate and manage the agenda for various monthly meetings, publish meeting minutes and track action items through to completion.

Experience / Education:

  • Extensive experience in the use of presentation, analytical tools and is adaptable to a rapidly changing environment are a must.
  • Should have a college or university degree in a technology or finance-related discipline, with 5+ years of demonstrated expertise that includes the following:
  • Exceptional management of big data and analytics.
  • Solid business architecture skills with process documentation and template creation.
  • Must have demonstrated expertise in developing/providing processes and tools advisory to large organizations, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • Proven track record of seeking, learning and effectively applying best practices available from various sources, including documentation, online sources and the knowledge of other professionals.
  • Must have strong knowledge of the full project delivery lifecycle and/or relevant industry certifications.
