META is seeking a Manager, Facilities & Equipment Engineering based at our Dartmouth factory in Nova Scotia. This Manager will play a key role in leading equipment design, machines set up and maintenance for multiple exciting new technology programs such as smart eyewear lenses, HUD and 5G components and displays. What You’ll Do:


Your role will be to manage the facilities & equipment engineering of META’s technologies development lines. You will lead your team to innovate, develop and maintain custom machines and processing lines for new products and applications, including working hands-on within a diverse, multi-disciplinary team focused upon integration of holographic and conductive films into applications including high performance imaging systems, integrated optical sub-systems and smart lenses for Augmented Reality and safety eyewear. This role includes identifying technical objectives for the team satisfying customer requirements, by creating and implementing technical development plans to achieve clear goals. Reporting to the Director, Advanced Materials and Process Innovation, the Manager, Facilities & Equipment Engineering will also be responsible for growing the equipment engineering organization, including attracting experienced talent.


While the role and responsibilities will vary based on business priorities, they typically include:


  • Implement established equipment and facility operation and maintenance rules, governmental regulations, and safety practices;
  • Manage new equipment sourcing; from defining the machine requirements, sourcing suppliers, run demo’s and present final report with recommendation.
  • Manage equipment acceptance, set - up the machine for production condition and issue work instructions.
  • Manage maintenance and repair plan, improve tool reliability as well as manage spare part inventory.
  • Participating actively in the research and development of new products scale up and their methods of manufacturing.
  • Providing support to the manufacturing department for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Identify potential subcontractors or service providers for various material processing procedures, testing, tools, and subsequent evaluation.
  • Ensure novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools


Minimum qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical engineering or related
  • 5 years’ experience in Mechanical – Electrical Engineering, equipment and facility management, maintenance, governmental regulations, and safety practices.
  • Strong analytical thinker with the ability to deliver original, innovative ideas and approaches to difficult problems
  • Experience with an innovative, fast paced environment proving processing lines to meet industry standards.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects to meet tight deadlines


Preferred qualifications:


  • Experience working with eyewear, defense, and display industries’ reliability standards.
  • Experience and ability to understand the mechanical and utilities needs.
  • Experience working with vendors for specialized machines requirements;
