The Manager, Network Satellite Planning is responsible for establishing Northwestel's network investment plans so that they align with and enable the company's strategic direction and long-term goals with respect to revenue, marketing of new products, technology adoption, network optimization and customer satisfaction. Working closely with the Senior Managers, and various Business Unit leaders as required, the Manager, Network Satellite Planning will ensure technology plans reflect timing and capability requirements of the business.
In addition to establishing mid-range and long-range (3 years and 5 years) network technology and evolution plans, this position will provide:

This position has an intense and challenging combination of strategic planning focus relative to technology investment planning; anticipating future capabilities; integrating an implementation roadmap that optimizes resources. Working closely with the Senior Managers is critical to understanding business needs and market direction, but often strategic decisions will be required based upon considerable ambiguity with respect to technology and industry trends.
The Manager, Network Satellite Planning is continually faced with and driving technology changes to improve Northwestel services as they relate to the company vision and customer priorities.
The scope of this position is broad. Interaction ranges from front-line management personnel to the Executive in Northwestel and cross-functionally within the organization, as well as with potential partners, vendors, contractors and industry forums (e.g.Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada - ISED).
In addition, incumbents must possess strong computer literacy, project planning, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Business acumen, a "solution" orientation, and insight into the financial/economic aspects of the telecommunications industry are definite asset.
