In this role, you will be a part of the Oil and Gas & Chemical team, based in the Brampton office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Develop mechanical engineering deliverables including package lists, equipment lists, datasheets, specifications, material take-offs, material and equipment requisitions for tender and purchase, review calculations.
  • Inter-disciplinary coordination with engineers, buyers, vendors and clients.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations across equipment packages.
  • Support project controls in preparing cost estimates across mechanical equipment.
  • Review of documentation and drawings from various vendors including calculations, shop drawings, quality documentation, schedule, engineering lists etc.
  • Manage vendors and suppliers from package initiation, fabrication, shipment and site erection.
  • Provide technical support between mechanical field engineering teams and home office engineering.
  • Work with design group for process equipment including - pressure and non-pressure vessels, tanks, storage tanks, exchangers, towers and internals.
  • Work includes conceptual studies, detailed design, field installation, and construction support in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
  • Fundamental knowledge of codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE, etc.).
  • Participate in the development of P&ID's and support project schedules.
  • Prepare construction specification, construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical equipment.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills are required. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in support of multiple projects is essential.
  • Work with Project Controls, Project Manager, and Engineering Disciplines and Clients to meet scheduled project milestones of multiple projects.
  • Market Sector - Understands specific engineering requirements for applications within a market sector.
  • QA/QC reviews of all specifications, drawings, and by others.
  • Develop, manage and monitor work plans to support multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  • Review Mechanical design and regulatory codes with vendors to ensure project compliance.
  • Participate and support shop inspections and site construction visits.

What your experience looks like

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience.
  • EPC experience preferred.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals, such as mechanics of material, welding, heat transfer, process and instrumentation diagrams and etc.
  • Experience in chemical, refining, and chemical energy industry is an asset.
  • Shop drawings and fabrication experience is definitely an asset.
