MRP Master Planner (SAP)

  • Provide guidance and oversight to operational personnel on MRP processes, strategies, and master data.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement activities based on SAP data and industry best practices.

Key Position Duties:

  • Provides guidance to production teams on MRP best practices;
  • Implements best scheduling practices: create, execute and monitor schedule and materials management;
  • Oversees the maintenance and accuracy of key data such as safety stock, forecast, inventory levels, and routings to ensure MRP and costing functionality perform optimally;
  • Advises on production planning methods to maximize on-time delivery and production efficiencies;
  • Provides oversight on material, cost, and time estimates of manufactured items for quoting purposes as well as variance analysis on major discrepancies;
  • Develops strategies for scheduling / releasing Production Work Orders (PWO) for manufacturing;
  • Attends Production Planning meetings and cross functional scrums to identify and mitigate supply risks;
  • Participates in the review of customer requirements and forecasting with internal teams: i.e. procurement, production, sales, engineering, and quality;
  • Provides supporting data to the Sales and Operational processes, at both plant and global levels, to maintain a balanced supply and demand profile based on the supplied forecast;
  • Defines the governance requirements for Production Planning master data, i.e. Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Routings in SAP;
  • Collects and analyze key production and procurement data to ensure KPI’s are being met;
  • Provides input into best practices and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Purchasing or Industrial field;
  • Minimum of two to four (2-4) years hands on work experience using SAP or equivalent MRP systems in a manufacturing environment required;
  • Strong negotiation, decision making and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong analytical skills, business perspective and client service orientation;
  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite (Word, Excel). SharePoint experience an asset;
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize workload, multi-task, and work independently;
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills;
  • Ability to balance and manage changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization (both written and oral);
  • Works autonomously under general direction to meet project and team objectives;
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Demonstrated ability to recommend improvements relating to processes and systems.
