Summary: The National Industries Manager is responsible for implementing manufacturing strategies and operational goals related to plant equipment, quality, cost, efficiencies, and driving operational excellence. This role works closely with all stakeholders regarding technical support while striving for best in class production results and business practices.

The National Industries Manager will help develop and drive key performance indicators across all areas of the manufacturing function to ensure that production efforts are delivered efficiently and within budget. This role ensures health, safety and environmental issues and goals are prioritized and facilitated.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with subsidiary businesses regarding capital investment for production facilities (Aggregate, Asphalt, Concrete, Bitumen)
  • Ensures manufacturing facilities are complying with all provincial guidelines and regulations
  • Ensures manufacturing facilities are following all Colas policies and processes
  • Assists in the development and monitors approved winter overhaul budgets in relation to the plants
  • Delivers training related to plant equipment and processes
  • Liaise with subsidiary businesses as a technical advisor
  • Assists with mobilization and demobilization efforts as needed through the network
  • Monitors and develops a robust sustainability program with company delivered carbon footprint reduction plans
  • Develop and communicate recommendations designed to improve results, processes and/or procedures
  • Regular communications and participation with One Colas groups as it relates to plants and manufacturing
  • Investigate new technologies and processes designed for increased levels of safety, production and/or profitability
  • Take an active role with the 6S committee with an oversight specifically to the manufacturing facilities
  • Although not limited to the above

Requirements:

  • Financial, business, or engineering degree is preferred
  • P.Eng., CMA, MBA designations are considered assets
  • Bilingual in both French and English is an asset
  • Strategic approach and planning skills related to capital investment for industries
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Logical and efficient with attention to detail
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in parallel to one another
  • Collaborative approach with all stakeholders
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Proficient with MS Office programs
  • Experience with plant systems related software and measurement KPI’s
  • Knowledge of Provincial regulations related to industrials production, emissions and site management
  • Ability to understand and work with financial statements
  • Knowledge of current construction industry standards
  • Functional abilities with energy types, usage and programs relative to manufacturing plants
