What role will you play?
Reporting to the Business Solution Delivery Lead (“BSDL”), the role of the Network Infrastructure and Cloud IT Partner is to manage the delivery of network, infrastructure, and cloud solutions to the entire Canada Post Group of Companies (CPC).
In this key role the CITO Network Infrastructure and Cloud IT Partner will liaise with the extended IT leadership team, client sponsors and stakeholders to deliver IT solutions to meet business needs. The incumbent will be accountable for all aspects of the network, cloud and infrastructure sub-domain management. In addition, as we embark on transitioning to new voice, and data supporting a cloud-first strategy, the IT partner will work with the transition team to establish long term support roles, responsibilities and process for these services.
What will you be responsible for? (apart from Innovating)
Work in close partnership with the business teams to manage the day to day changes to the network (new sites, expansions, additional services) and support the delivery of major new business initiatives from the perspective of secure and reliable data and voice access
Shape the team operating model and processes to deliver network services within the new contracts
Lead a successful transformation effort from data center to the public cloud, particularly AWS and/or Azure"
Provide leadership to the architecture team to develop network and cloud standards and controls to enforce compliance, and encourage new ways of thinking around modern architecture principles such as zero-trust, software-defined, and Infrastructure-as-Code
Manage the relationship with the data centre provider to keep the data centre infrastructure and managed services current and operationally sound
Comply with the Architecture Center of Expertise to follow network and cloud standards and controls to enforce compliance with principles such as zero-trust, software-defined, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
Direct and oversee the management of the Network and Infrastructure team’s budget, and provide transparency on costs and capabilities
Provide a high-performing, reliable, energy and cost-efficient environment to run IT services including utilization of cloud environment
Support the delivery of multi-cloud and hybrid cloud projects leveraging cloud-native and purpose-built cloud architectures and tools in addition to traditional architectures
Proactively provide strategic advice and guidance about IT market trends to foster innovation within Network Infrastructure and Cloud platforms, in collaboration with Centers of Expertise and Enterprise architecture teams
Facilitate people management and resourcing, defining roles and responsibilities, staff reviews/appraisals, recruitment/dismissals and staff training
Manage vendor performance under her/his leadership when applicable and work in collaboration with the sourcing and procurement team to support any procurement activities
What does it take for this role to be yours?
Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience of contributing to the success of a range of mid-to-large size initiatives with above-average levels of complexity and business criticality
Experience in implementing and managing WAN, LAN, WLAN, Cellular, Satellite, Cloud infrastructure and hybrid Cloud deployments, together with and through service providers and carriers
Experience in implementing and managing network, Cloud infrastructure, hybrid Cloud deployments, with best practices and procedures to accommodate hybrid infrastructure operations, leveraging both cloud-native, purpose-built cloud architectures and tools
Experience in managing the migration of traditional on-premises services to Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), including rationalizing existing equipment, tools and processes
Experience building strategic vendor management partnerships, managing large contracts, renewals and RFPs. Responsible for Infrastructure vendor and contract management including negotiation of renewals and key contracts
Experience owning on-call and support resolution (operational)
Experience with a hybrid public-private cloud model, with the public cloud model being multi-cloud (AWS and Azure)
Knowledge of Canadian data residency requirements
Experience with capacity planning and forecasting
Expert in applying security design concepts for both on-premises and in cloud
Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent practical experience (required)
Certifications : Network Certification (CCIE, CCNA, CCNP, or similar) and/or Azure or AWS certifications (preference to Network specialty)
