Founded in 1978, All Weather Windows operates Customer Solution Centres across Western Canada with manufacturing plants headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta. We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Health and Safety Manager to join our All Weather Windows team located in Edmonton. Reporting to the VP, Human Resources and Health & Safety, the Occupational Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive range of employee health and safety programs and services to meet the goals and legal obligations of All Weather Windows. Some of the functions included in this role are the assessment, facilitation and evaluation of injury prevention, occupational health and safety, employee and family wellness and the development, implementation and consultation on safety policies. The Occupational Health and Safety Manager will oversee all activities of the Occupational Health and Safety department and provides advice to management and employees.

The successful candidate will be an individual with related manufacturing and commercial construction experience and education. They will have a proven track record at achieving results through a people-centered leadership approach and successfully executing projects from start to finish. This person will be a critical thinker with outstanding organizational & communication skills. They will have the ability to build strong relationships to influence and lead employees and leadership teams.

Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Proactively partner with and influence leadership and management to facilitate the continued journey of transitioning safety from priority to value.
  • Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and update All Weather Windows' occupational health and safety policies, procedures and programs.
  • Monitor, amend and update the organization's Health and Safety Manual, policies, safe work practices, and any other health & safety documents.
  • Develop annual health and safety plans for the company based on a full review of health and safety-related needs.
  • Review occupational health and safety legislation in the jurisdictions that we operate in (BC, AB, SK, MB), amendments and best practices.
  • Provide all levels of the company with advice related to health and safety matters, legislative requirements and best practices in the field
  • Assist in representing management in matters of health and safety with the government, health and safety associations and other outside agencies and organizations
  • Provide case management services with reports on WCB incidents and injuries, lost time injuries, health-related absenteeism and other occupational health and safety information
  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of occupational health and safety professionals
  • Effectively manage return to work programs, working closely with the employee, his/her supervisors and the insurance company.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and supervisors to return injured employees (as soon as possible) to productive work following an injury
  • Work with Management to investigate accidents thoroughly and effectively, and then respond appropriately as required
  • Liaise with WCB and insurance providers on all claims
  • Develop a matrix for training requirements, maintain records of all health and safety-related training and assist in the development of rollout programs
  • Develop and manage internal health and safety audits of the company
  • Support and promote occupational health, wellness and safety department initiatives
  • Act as a resource to or serve as a member on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Prepare and manage the occupational health and safety budget
