Operational Excellence Lead - Wood Products Ontario (Atikokan, Ignace & Thunder Bay Sawmills)

Resolute is seeking a Operational Excellence Lead - Wood Products Ontario. You will work closely with the Operational Manager and heads of business segments to carry out performance enhancement projects and achieve operational objectives in order to develop more reliable and efficient production and maintenance capabilities. You will also take part in the harmonized digital transformation of facilities.

Your responsibilities:

  • Comply with our health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Actively contributes to the development of the Resolute Performance System for the wood products division as well as implementing standard operating procedure
  • Drive the adoption of best practices for asset management and performance and enable the digital transformation, including establishment of the organizational and support structure to achieve objectives
  • Take part in establishing the facilities' strategic action plans to achieve performance objectives
  • Analyze management processes and systems to identify opportunities for performance improvement and develop an action plan
  • Implement the management system across the facilities to develop the key management personnel and critical skills across the site by working in collaboration with your peers
  • Strengthen the LEAN skills at the site
  • Govern the progression of activities in relation to the objectives and report to site leadership and central team
  • Benchmark best practices at the facilities and within the industry

Ideal profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical Mechanical / Electrical / Process diploma with related industry experience
  • Five years of equivalent experience in wood products
  • Demonstrated progression in leadership roles with a proven track record of execution and delivering results from continuous improvement
  • Experienced supervisor and influential leader
  • A self-motivated individual who will work towards Safety & Continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Competent in maintenance process and reliability best practices
  • Implemented LEAN, SIX SIGMA, 5S, SMED initiatives
  • English speaking with French an asset
  • Willingness to travel 30% (mostly Northwest Ontario)
  • Advanced computer skills i.e. MS Word, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Good working knowledge of sawmill and planer mill equipment
