Your challenges:

The Paper Machine Superintendent of Paper Machine #5 will be responsible to lead and coordinate the paper machine crews while managing and focusing on paper machine performance including safety, environmental, productivity, quality, costs, and efficiency.

Your primary Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Use their strong team building and leadership skills to successfully and safely achieve the performance targets of this operating platform.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement training programs for the Paper Machine #5 team.
  • Maintain and improve quality, efficiency and capital upgrades.
  • The candidate will participate in the monthly operational / budget review process, and will maintain an active and open dialogue with the Unions to promote the safe work practices, product and equipment ownership, and continuous improvement within the department.

Your team:

Reporting to the News Mill Production Manager, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.

Your profile:

  • Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering Degree preferred, coupled with at least 3 years of high speed paper making experience within a unionized environment.
  • Candidates with the required paper making experience but without an engineering degree will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate would possess an excellent working knowledge of the paper making process, with superior troubleshooting and leadership abilities.


Your skills and assets:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required, including an ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced and structured environment
  • Good communication skills with excellent strategic thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and longterm objectives; uses organized and efficient work methods;
  • Proficient analytical skills required as well as a strong background in MS Office.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health and safety, efficiency, production and cost targets for the department.
