The Store Manager is responsible for motivating and inspiring their team to achieve store productivity and financial goals. The Store Manager will analyze week to date, period to date, and year to date sales, and develop action plans to drive top line sales. Other responsibilities include managing payroll budgets to ensure store’s contribution is on target, ensuring the individual and collective skills of the team are utilized effectively, and both the staff and customer experience is positive. The Store Manager is responsible for recruiting and hiring appropriately to ensure the store is ready for day to day operations. Effectively manages store operations, ensuring consistency and compliance across all departments. The Store Manager must be available to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently create a welcoming environment for all staff and customers
  • Identify opportunities to drive traffic into the store through community events
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures, including health, safety, and security to ensure a safe, secure and legal work environment
  • Handle difficult and/or complicated sales and follows up with customers as needed
  • Dispense for an average of 30+ hours a week
  • Verify prescription details with the healthcare specialist who prescribed them, when required
  • Proactively follow up with irregularities with scripts processed at the pharmacy
  • Maintains an approved drug and controlled substance list and verify expiry dates
  • Coach, counsel and discipline employees when needed
  • Manage and evaluate team and individual employee performance
  • Identify training needs and provides ongoing training opportunities to the team as needed
  • Hire based on the needs of the Pharmacy, actively recruiting to ensure open positions are filled
  • Prioritize, plan, and adjust schedules as necessary to maximize sales
  • Responsible for controlling inventory stock levels and reordering as necessary


  • 1-3 years’ experience in store management
  • 1-3 years’ experience as a Pharmacist
  • Experience in pharmaceutical systems and dispensing procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of protocols regarding the safe storage of prescriptions drugs
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong customer/patient satisfaction orientation
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Experience developing and analyzing budgets
  • Experience implementing strategic business development initiatives
  • Ability to maintain the optimum balance between the profession of pharmacy and the business
    of pharmacy
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to foster a collaborative working environment

Education and Licensing Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a University Degree with a Bachelor of Science or Doctorate in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Active registration with good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Holds a Certificate of Competency from the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada
  • Affiliation with Ontario Pharmacists’ Association
  • Holds a valid certification in CPR and First Aid (the equivalent of St. John Ambulance or Red
  • Cross Standard First Aid & CPR/AED (Level C))
