Nasittuq provides exemplary support services to the Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, situated in the Canadian Arctic. Our highly skilled workforce provides services that include all elements of facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services, transport and logistical/administrative support to our customer, the Department of National Defence (DND).

WE HAVE AN IMMEDIATE VACANCY FOR A PLUMBER

Key Accountabilities:

  • Repair building plumbing and sewage systems and install replacements of an equal or better type, style, quality, grade or class in order to obtain specific operating characteristics or to match other items already in place
  • Accurately record all work orders for the plumbing and ablution facilities, as well as records or normal and abnormal operating conditions and malfunctions along with corrective actions taken
  • Test-run the fire booster pumps in accordance with National Fire Protection Association standards and report all failures, log all tests in the logbook accurately and completely on the same working day the tests are conducted
  • Perform duties related to being a Fire Brigade member, e.g. will be placed on a 24-hour on-call schedule on a rotational basis, reacting as required to incidents

Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Plumber with 5+ years experience in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Must be eligible for ENHANCED RELIABILITY security clearance, and must pass a company pre-employment medical
  • As overnighting in Thule Greenland is a requirement enroute to CFS Alert, you must possess a valid passport
  • Ability to work cross-culturally and be a strong team player is a must; will need to roll up sleeves and pitch in as and when required
Highlights:

The positions in Alert are Fly In/Fly out. Our permanent positions are 8x8 rotations (8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site).
• All travel expenses are paid by Nasittuq

• Hours of work are typically 40 hours per week with overtime on short notice
