As a Portfolio Optimization Manager you will be responsible for driving strategic decision-making using actionable insights to foster growth and mitigate risks in financial products and strategically manage and optimize the portfolio to empower and enable Shopify merchants to grow their businesses.
How you'll make an impact:
Uncover meaningful portfolio insights that allow us to manage risk and/or grow our lending business responsibly
Partner with our product data team to model potential scenarios for future performance of new or expanded financing products; use your experience to assess likelihood of various outcomes
Utilize sophisticated statistical modeling techniques to analyze portfolio performance, identify trends, and recommend data-driven solutions
Partner with product team to develop and execute pricing strategies for financing products that support growth, manage risk, and achieve business objectives
Lead the development of scenario analysis models based on macroeconomic conditions and product variations
Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, merchant behavior, and competitor pricing to inform eligibility and pricing decisions and identify opportunities for growth
Support our funding partners' (and potential funding partners') understanding of our financing products' attributes and performance with analysis and commentary
Collaborate closely with the Recovery team to understand Recovery's impact on the portfolio and develop strategies for managing and minimizing delinquencies.
Coach team members responsible for generating valuable business insights, teach data analysis techniques (using SQL & Python), and partner with data scientists from both our product team and our finance team
Develop and deliver comprehensive presentations to senior leadership, effectively communicating complex analytical findings and strategic
What you bring to the team:
An advanced degree in statistics, economics, decision science, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on quantitative analysis and data-driven decision-making.
Proven experience in portfolio optimization, and statistical analysis within the financial services industry.
Knowledge of credit risk principles, underwriting practices, and regulatory requirements in the lending sector
Expertise in advanced statistical tools and programming languages for data analysis and modeling; SQL and Python
Strong understanding of financial markets, risk management principles, and portfolio performance evaluation metrics.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and deliver measurable results in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
