Production Superintendent Trainee

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Superintendent Trainee is a dynamic position that requires leadership skills and production knowledge. The development in this role is intended to lead to future opportunities in the company. This role requires a broad skill set such as production planning, strategic procurement of inputs, sales and product development, quality control, and implementation of new projects.


  • Support employee development of direct reports through coaching, feedback and performance management
  • Production Planning for efficiency and cost recovery
  • Monitor Edit Grid/Zeus – take advantage of market opportunities
  • Monitor LC Stats Program – follow up on underperformance; verify recovery issues; monitor grading
  • Monitor ongoing inventory to min. W/C
  • Procurement of raw materials and monthly ordering– cost management
  • Coordinate with Sales to ensure best pricing and inventory management
  • Use Production knowledge to assist with product set up and trials in the mill
  • Attend customer and sale group visits and calls with Plant Manager as required
  • Assist in implementation of new projects
  • Use production knowledge to work with millwrights and supervisors for equipment set up and trials
  • Oversee Safety on the floor
  • Assist Plant Manager in monitoring plant safety and implementation of new programs as needed.
  • This is a development roll with potential for succession into future management roles within Lake Country

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong commitment towards a safe work environment;
  • Previous production or wood products manufacturing experience in either Sales, Quality Control or Supervision/Management
  • Strong leadership skills-Previous experience supervising direct reports is considered an asset
  • Post-secondary education in wood products manufacturing or related field is desirable;
  • Familiarity with forest products manufacturing equipment is an asset;
