Specific Job Description

  • Supervises a large team to build, split major modules and disassemble jet engines in the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Industry. Responsible for providing team leadership to a production team committed to increased quality and productivity
  • Expedites and optimizes material, modules & engine flow in the shop to meet customer requirements. Coordinates with planning to provide shop floor control on engine schedule & Turn Around Time and controls production schedule and capacity requirements
  • Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments and recognition/disciplinary actions
  • Provides guidance on team development, performance, and productivity issues. Monitors team performance and ensures proper allocation of resources. Represents the team, presenting team suggestions and recommendations on processes and procedures in accordance with organization cost, quality, and productivity goals
  • Manages production activities involving the repair, maintenance, overhaul and quality of jet engines, and the processes that directly pertain to production equipment, tooling, fixtures, processes, inspection, quality assurance and engine testing and certification
  • Supervises Engine and Module assembly/disassembly of jet engines (Fan Frame, Core and Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) Modules). Provides direction of daily operations of a production line and actively assists, or provides direction to, subordinates as required
  • Implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in production to ensure the Lockheed Martin Engine division operations and financial objectives are achieved
  • Experience performing engine borescope inspection, incoming inspections, Visual inspection and verification of the application of Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs) or any modification
  • Supervision of Inspection and Installation of engines unit, Quick Engine Change (QEC), Gearbox (Auxiliary Gearbox (AGB)/ Inlet Gearbox (IGB)) systems, electrical and pneumatic systems and engine mounts
  • Turbine engine inspection and certification
  • Oversight and experience in bearings inspection (ex. gearbox bearings, No.4 bearing, etc.)
  • Directing the Balancing (single plain or dynamic) of rotors and modules
  • Experience in interpreting MRO shop work packages/instructions, modules disassembly & build, dirty fingerprints, production travellers, reporting and dispositioning of snags during engine strip, disassembly and build.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the jet engine MRO (or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) aftermarket) industry
  • Diploma in aircraft maintenance / mechanic and /or Certified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (M2) but a combination of Mechanical, Industrial/Production Engineering Degree with maintenance/mechanic/Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) qualifications is a definite asset
  • All applicable qualifications need to meet current company work requirements. Experience in managing unionized employees is desirable with Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Quantum or SAP
  • Previous training and knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), aviation safety, Borescope inspection, Industrial/Production engineering (productivity & efficiency continuous improvement, Kaizen events, non-value added tasks reduction, Lean operations) Quality and Human Factors is required
  • Ability to read and understand instructions in English
  • Electrical Harness, Gearbox, Engine mounts repair experience, blueprint and technical manual reading, interpretation and understanding is considered an asset.
