Job Description

We are seeking an adaptable and result-driven Project Planner to support growing project demands in our Vancouver office. This role will be responsible for preparing and monitoring schedules for medium-sized projects in the mining and heavy industry sectors.

The Project Planner will be responsible for:

  • Developing and updating schedules for all project phases: engineering, procurement, logistics, construction and commissioning
  • Planning, organizing and monitoring the project using tools like Primavera P6 and Prism G2
  • Analyzing the critical path, risks and opportunities and preparing recommendations for the Project or Study Manager
  • Generating progress reports and performance indicator production
  • Updating schedules on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Preparing reports and maintaining the connection with Project Management regarding planning activities and project scheduling
  • Maintaining all planning and progress reports
  • Proposing solutions to the Project Manager to correct identified gaps and schedules
  • Exercising independent judgement in selecting, filing, compiling and analyzing data from various sources
  • Carrying out all other related tasks that could help deliver projects


  • Diploma or degree in a relevant area of study with at least 8 years of relevant experience in the heavy industry and/or mining sector or any other equivalent combination of studies and relevant experience
  • High attention to detail and focus on achieving results
  • Knowledge of design and construction processes
  • Solid working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and Primavera P6
  • Ability to travel
  • Registration at a P.Eng with EGBC would be considered an asset
  • Collaborative team player with experience working effectively with multiple disciplines and project team members toward a common goal
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven track record of understanding and assessing the client need and responding with problem solving skills that are both creative, innovative and appropriate
  • Ability to make decisions and adapt to change
