ROLE: RESORT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR based evenly across two resorts, SookePoint Ocean Cottage Resort in East Sooke as well as Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina. This is a permanent full time role with extended health benefits.


ROLE PROPOSITION


The Maintenance team members work in the heart of the operation as they strive to elevate the guests lodging experience. The Maintenance Supervisor demonstrates pride in guest rooms, marina facilities and public areas which are excellently maintained for guests and owners. Demonstrating tangible skills of being good with your hands with the ability to problem solve proactively in tackling a wide variety of challenges. While positioned operationally behind the scenes, this role often has guest interactions and opportunities to promote a positive image of the property to guests by being friendly, professional and able to address problems or special requests



ACCOUNTABILITIES


Operations:


  • Complete thorough property walk through and maintenance checks
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on appliances and other items
  • Perform maintenance to all guest area such as repairing furniture, unclogging drains, changing light bulbs, replacing broken items, painting, caulking of tubs and showers, repair and replacement of bathroom fixtures
  • Maintain the utmost quality of workmanship in new construction and renovation projects
  • Clean up of materials and debris during and after a project
  • Maintain facilities on marina including woodwork, basic plumbing and electrical
  • Coordinate and meet with our 3rd party vendors at our resorts. (Meeting with electricians, plumbers, and other technicians to let them in and walk them through work to be done)
  • Maintain organization of supplies and operating equipment in storage such as tools, extra furniture/lamps, space heaters, fans etc. and fill out stock requisition counts as necessary
  • Communicate and coordinate with Housekeeping to ensure efficient maintenance and repair of items related to guest rooms and public areas are updated
  • Assist with Housekeeping duties and other tasks as needed

Team Commitment / Leadership:


  • Complete a time activity document detailing where and how much time and supplies were utilized on each project
  • Coordinate and lead projects with supervising other maintenance staff efforts to effectively meet deadlines
  • Strong eye for detail and the ability to deliver all departmental standards and environmentally sound practices
  • Recognize and analyze potential problem areas and or deficiencies
  • Maintain familiarization with current and update guidelines of building maintenance concepts and procedures
  • Actively promote True Key Hotels & Resorts and its affiliates while contributing to stellar operation and financial responsibility through value and loyalty
  • Adhere to the policies set out by the code of conduct, employee handbook, health and safety standards, reporting all incidents and/or injuries immediately



IDEAL CANDIDATE


  • 2 years minimum Maintenance experience in a hotel setting or related industry is required, with resort experience a strong asset
  • Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting or other general repair skills in order to trouble shoot and carry out minor repairs
  • Good with your hands to service and repair duties of guestrooms, marina and public areas
  • Capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools
  • Ability to learn a wide variety of equipment and skills quickly
  • Ability to complete minor equipment repairs
  • Must hold a current valid driver’s license, clear drivers abstract required annually
  • Ability to operate company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner
  • Good physical condition, willing to and able to work indoors, outdoors and at heights in all weather conditions and able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Strong knowledge of Work Safe BC and BC building code current regulations
  • Highly safety conscious work practices enforcing correct safety procedures/standards and ability to recognize and act in emergency situation
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada for consideration.
