Summary of Responsibilities:
Based out of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler with travel to Lake Louise, Jasper and Banff as required – this position reports to the Regional Director, Tour & Leisure Development, and will work as part of a team to exceed Canada’s Western Mountain Region (CWMR) Tour & Leisure goals. Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Maximize high demand periods and drive winter/shoulder business by;
Maintaining and increasing global ski accounts, receptive relationships and business to each of the four properties with particular focus on US, AU, UK and Netherlands markets
Growing ski club and council business with particular focus on Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper
Building in-destination relationships with Ski hills (Whistler Blackcomb, SkiBig3, Lake Louise, Sunshine, Norquay, Marmot) to increase business opportunities and revenue growth
Managing wholesale, receptive accounts and contracts as assigned
Attending wholesale and retail trade marketplaces and conferences as required
Initiating in market missions as required/requested to achieve and exceed sales goals
Conduct training sessions with agents, operators as required
Working as part of a team to develop CWMR global Consortia
Negotiate rate agreements that create a win/win for the client and organization
Build and grow current relationships with suppliers and industry partners to ensure that Canada’s Western Mountain Region and our destinations are always top of mind.
Be an effective team player within the Sales team of Canada’s Western Mountain Region and with other team members in Tour Services, Revenue, Food and Beverage and other key areas within the hotel and the region
Steal market share from competitors to assist in gaining further market penetration and increase revenues.
Create agent incentives that encourage reservation agents to book Fairmont over competitors. Work with local, provincial and national tourism boards in attracting and hosting agent fams to each destination to grow the business and tweak destination interest.
Keep current on key market, airline and account intel and provide updates as required /requested
Work with a budget to ensure that all trips, value adds and rate reviews fall in line with the set budget to ensure the properties are achieving their revenues and operating as a successful business.
Support and assist with the development of Regional Tour & Leisure Sales Coordinator(s)
All other duties as assigned
Minimum 3 years sales experience
Sales training courses an asset
Able to multi-task, effectively negotiate sales contracts, and work under deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Articulate, self-motivated, energetic and positive team-player
Graduate of Hospitality Degree / Diploma program a definite asset
Knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering / Opera Sales Force Automation and Property Manager are assets
Knowledge of The Fairmont Banff Springs, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, heritage, facilities and programs are a definite asset
Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows
Desire to learn and advance within the Sales and Marketing team/division
Enjoys challenges, works well under time pressure, thinks ahead and is extremely committed to the job
Ability to travel within Canada, United States as required
