KEY OBJECTIVE:


The key objective of the Business Development Manager (BDM) role is to help establish and grow Chubb Workplace Benefits Accident and Disability group employee benefits business through new business acquisition and renewal management which will be achieved by building strong and viable consultant and broker relationships.


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Business Development Manager):

- Solicit new business sales of Chubb Workplace Benefits Accident and Disability Income products through brokers and consultants

- Achieve growth targets and sales metrics

- Build a robust prospect account pipeline and pro-actively move prospects through the process of quoting, underwriting, customer positioning and closing

- Responsible for building effective business relationships with existing and new Employee Benefits brokers and consultants, seeking sources of new business to fill the pipeline

- High level of meaningful travel to brokers and consultants, Third Party Administrators (TPA) and MGAs, primarily in the Greater Toronto Area, including new business prospecting, broker education, proposal presentations, and worksite employee presentations as needed

- Maintain business relationships to secure the placement of renewals and increase persistency

- Partner with Chubb Life, Accident & Health Business Development Managers to explore mutual growth opportunities

- Use of Salesforce CRM system to prospect, advance, issue, and renew group opportunities

- Day to day account management as required

- Communicate new products, pricing, guidelines and strategies to consultants, brokers and TPAs

- Leverage broker relationships, additional compensation available, and other division and branch resources including Enrollers to optimize financial results

- Work with Actuarial, Underwriting and Marketing teams to help identify industry, brokerage, and portfolio trends and assist in establishing appropriate corresponding strategy

- Collect, analyze and share market and competitive intelligence with Chubb Workplace Benefits’ leadership

- Responsible for promotion and enhancement of Chubb Workplace Benefits’ profile in the Canadian Life & Health Insurance marketplace


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Senior Business Development Manager):

- All Duties & Responsibilities listed for BDM above, as well as:

- Assist with hiring and onboarding of up to 6 new BDMs as the business grows

- Develop and lead a high performing team to support ongoing growth initiatives

- Manage, coach, and mentor direct reports and provide overall direction to ensure growth targets and sales metrics are achieved, and employee engagement and job performance are optimized


QUALIFICATIONS:

- University degree in a related field of study

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in group insurance sales, or related insurance sales

- Demonstrated track record of meeting revenue and growth objectives

- Possess strong relationship building skills with insurance brokers, advisors, and consultants, and with the ability to speak in front of groups

- Ability to function well in pressure situations

- Superior verbal and written communication skills as well as listening skills

- Strong customer orientation to respond to and support customer needs

- Excellent negotiation skills with an aptitude for diplomacy

- Proven team player with ability to collaborate and communicate at all levels of management

- Proven ability to be self-motivated and entrepreneurial

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)

- Superior time management skills

- Life or Accident and Sickness Insurance Agent license is an asset, but not required

- Experience leading others is preferred for Senior Business Development Manager candidates

- Fluency in French is an asset, but not required

- The applicant must be open to extensive travel, as the position’s responsibilities extend across Ontario, primarily in the Greater Toronto Area and during normal business hours

- Must have own car for travel, will be reimbursed associated expenses
