Senior HR Generalist

Artemis Recruitment is currently looking for a Senior HR Generalist for a client located in Montreal. Under the responsibility of the HR Manager, the selected person will work with managers, employees and other stakeholders to promote key HR programs, providing front-line support for skills management needs, employee relations and human resources.


  • Partner with team leaders and employees to understand people needs and challenges in every department, and translate these into actionable solutions and initiatives;
  • In partnership with the HR Manager, identify performance gaps and find solutions, including the development and delivery of training materials and programs;
  • Support with the deployment and completion of performance management related activities, providing leaders with guidance on performance management, including coaching, career development and disciplinary actions;
  • Maintain records on employee performance, talent mapping, succession planning, promotion rates;
  • Counsel leaders and employees on situational issues, participating in internal investigations and corrective actions;
  • Train, coach and provide effective recommendations to leaders on HR programs and the application of policies and procedures;
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager, develop and implement solutions to respond to challenges facing the business unit (attrition, retention, engagement, leadership and development;
  • Foster strong partnerships with leaders, employees, and other stakeholders, including Legal, Health & Safety;
  • Participate in the building of talent management strategies and programs to respond to the workforce needs;
  • Foster a safety culture through active membership on the Health & Safety Committee, supporting and leading initiatives in partnership with the Safety team;
  • Ensure organizational compliance with all employment-related laws and regulations, including the management of all CNESST case files;
  • Chair the DC Social/Engagement Committee, building an annual roadmap to drive employee engagement;
  • Participate in the monitoring, evaluation, optimization and deployment of key HR programs and initiatives;
  • Support in the collection and interpretation of employee engagement metrics to propose and implement initiatives;
  • Support the HR team with responding to requests in the HR ticketing system.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, or a relevant field;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an HR role, including minimum 3 years as a Generalist or Business Partner;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CRHA) designation;
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, knowledge of Google Drive (asset);
  • Experience within a Distribution, Centre environment (asset);
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations governing employment and compliance, including extensive knowledge of labor, HR best practices, and health & safety standards;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.
