We are currently seeking a Senior Investigator to join our Investigations and Loss Prevention team. You love investigations, you enjoy enhancing operations, and connecting the two brings you great joy. What you’ll do:

  • Completes FINTRAC regulatory reporting; Large Cash Transaction Reports, Suspicious Transaction Reports, and Large International Wire Transfer Reports.
  • Is responsible for the daily review of fraud alert within internal monitoring system. Utilizes the monitoring to proactively detect and prevent fraudulent transactions, thereby reducing Credit Union losses. When a loss does occur, is knowledgeable of current regulations that pertain to fraud and when possible recovers funds for the Credit Union.
  • Aid in investigations of critical incidents
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices, legislative changes, security issues and processes across financial and related industries. Maintains membership in security organizations, security publications, on-going contact with local police agencies and regulatory bodies. Uses current knowledge to develop and implement effective and proactive security programs, procedures and systems.
  • Ensures security functions within the organization are carried out in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Credit Union, Financial Institutions Act and Regulations, and all other applicable provincial and federal legislation.
  • Provides direction to management and branch staff in dealing with, or responding to, a variety of member inquiries and problems relating to fraud or security issues.
  • Establishes a high personal standard of performance and service by actively participating in special projects, relief assignments, educational security seminars, and other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Sound understanding and hands on experience in FINTRAC Guidelines and regulatory reporting.
  • Sound understanding of policies, procedures, products and services and legal and economic environments within which the Credit Union operates
  • Strong leadership, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated evidence of keeping current with security procedures, issues, trends and risk management
  • Experience in developing and implementing security procedures and conducting investigations
  • Ability to make occasionally complex decisions under general supervision
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Criminology/Security or a related field;
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years’ experience in the Money Laundering field;

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
