Your Challenge

The Land Development Team in EXP’s Calgary office is currently looking for an Senior Land Development Designer / Project Engineer to join their team. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Western Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future. This is a full time position reporting to the Manager, Land Development Operations.

Your Responsibilities

Lead the design process and provide design oversight for complex Land Development projects including large scale residential, industrial, and commercial developments in and around Calgary.

Duties will include:

  • Provide road and utility design solutions and input on the design process for key complex projects, including providing support to Project Managers and other design team members
  • Write, sign and possibly seal reports/drawings as required
  • Supervise/mentor and provide Quality Control for designs, specifications, and contract documents
  • Monitor project schedule and budgets and report status to the project manager on a regular basis
  • Liaise with clients, municipal approving authorities and contractors, as needed
  • Pursue obtaining all necessary approvals and permits for projects, including those from municipalities and provincial (Alberta) agencies
  • Participate in business development efforts including writing and pricing proposal efforts, securing new projects/clients, as needed
  • Coordinate design and field staff required for internal project teams, including directing, coordinating, and reviewing work done by staff
  • Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to at all sites and report to Manager and Joint Health and Safety Committee Members

The Skills and Knowledge You Bring

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the Land Development industry, with a focus on land development projects
  • Have a strong working knowledge and extensive experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Technologist, or eligible for registration
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft software applications
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Organized, works well under pressure and able to deal with situations with tact
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle is required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform individually or as a member of project teams
