Job Purpose

We are building a leading, best-in-class Global Compliance function to maintain customer trust and protect the Bank’s reputation. The Senior Manager, Testing contributes to the overall success of the Global Compliance, with a focus on Corporate and Support Functions (GRM, Finance, HR, etc.), ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives; ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Establish a second line regulatory compliance testing program and continuously provides feedback on enhancements to the testing methodology which includes the 1B validation testing, testing cycles, reporting results and more.
  • Works closely with the Directors of Compliance, and senior employees of the various businesses to develop, support and execute the Corporate and Support Function (CSF) Compliance testing program.
  • Active participation in the development of Annual testing plan and methodologies and procedures; including tracking of testing completion against annual test plan.
  • Provides advice and counsel to Canadian CSF departments with respect to the first line testing program and procedures (where applicable).
  • Identifies and analyzes trends and/or gaps across CSF departments, reports findings with recommendations on how to improve the effectiveness of first line controls to CSF Management.
  • Works closely with counterparts in Compliance to ensure consistency and alignment on the testing program and best practices across the organization.
  • Work with wide range of stakeholders including first line, internal audit and business unit compliance across all jurisdiction Canada to ensure that testing is executed in a well-coordinate manner.
  • Identify engagements across business lines and corporate functions which can be executed at once to minimize the impact on the business.
  • Liaises with CSF departments to implement changes to processes or procedures, as required based on testing results.
  • Constantly look for opportunities to automate and increase efficiencies in the testing process.
  • Pro-actively identifies potential violations of regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures, in a timely manner and makes recommendations to mitigate compliance risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and supports a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to regulatory compliance risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 8 years relevant experience in the financial services industry preferably within a regulatory compliance, audit or risk management function.
  • Ability to drive success in a high performing, flexible and small team environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Corporate and Support Functions (GRM, Finance, HR, etc.) and related regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience deploying compliance solutions.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, results orientation and data driven approach in decision making; Experience with providing insights to and interacting with the business.
  • Experience using analytics to identify areas of risk and opportunities for improvement.
  • Understands testing standards, tools and methodologies behind creating valuable compliance programs.
