Forsite Consultants Ltd, an innovative forest and land management company with 10 locations across Canada, has current openings for Silviculture Technicians at our Salmon Arm, Kamloops, and 100 Mile House locations, in the Interior of British Columbia.

Term:


  • These positions are either permanent full-time, or seasonal (late April to November), or summer, subject to applicant qualifications, experience, and availability. Applicants with extensive silviculture experience, or timber development experience, will be considered for permanent full-time positions.
  • These positions are also open to forestry students that are looking for summer employment.


Role:


  • As a Silviculture Technician, you will be responsible for applying your technical skills and knowledge when conducting silviculture projects, including planting implementation, silviculture surveys, treatment area layout, field assessments, and reporting.


Requirements (preferred):


  • Direct silviculture work experience;
  • Planting supervision and/or planting pay plot experience;
  • Silviculture survey experience;
  • Silviculture Surveyor Accreditation would be an asset;
  • Diploma or degree in a relevant discipline, or currently enrolled in a post-secondary forestry program;
  • Registered with the ABCFP or enrolled as a FIT or TFT;
  • Timber development experience would be an asset; and
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.


Candidates should also demonstrate the following qualities:


  • A passion for forestry;
  • Motivated, with a strong work ethic, and strong supervisory skills;
  • Experience working outdoors in all weather conditions;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills; and
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
