Job Description

Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Manager, this position is a new role, and will be accountable for developing and supporting strategic procurement plans and establishing partnerships that are solid, sustainable and advantageous for all parties, This position will support our strategic efforts to transform the Purolator procurement function to best in class, providing the business with premium support and performance. This position is part of an effective procurement team of 12, with regular exposure to department leaders and executives throughout the organization.


  • Lead the development and execution of complex negotiation strategies to deliver high value agreements with industry leading suppliers that encompass key program specifications as well as functional and commercial objectives
  • Collaborate with cross functional management teams to identify and develop the Road Map of key strategic initiatives. Conduct category/sub-category analysis to develop opportunities from sourcing, demand management, and supplier collaboration efforts.
  • Monitor market place to provide insights on category spend and savings opportunities based on rigorous data analysis, industry benchmarks and experience. Work with other Strategic Sourcing teams and business unit leads to deliver committed capital and expense savings.
  • Implement the corporate Strategic Sourcing process: Project Identification, Baselines/Financial Target/ Quantitative / Qualitative Analysis, Total-Cost-of-Ownership Analysis, Negotiation, and Contract Support. Develop and maintain a process by which vendors are evaluated and selected in accordance with established guidelines and best practices (RFI/RFP, Cross Functional Evaluation Team, Scorecards, and Performance Metrics).
  • Maintain knowledge of leading Procurement practices and promote adoption of Procurement standards. Continuously upgrade knowledge on event and sourcing methodologies with a specific focus on strategic category development.
  • Manage supplier contracts, governance and control programs to ensure delivery of expectations and compliance with corporate and regulatory policies
  • Support the development, configuration, and implementation of “Procurement Modernization” using technology and automation:
  • Phase 1 – Strategic Sourcing, Contract Management, and Supplier Performance (SAP-Ariba)
  • Phase 2 – Procure To Pay (SAP-Ariba)
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and developing solutions using Six Sigma methodology.
  • Manage and integrate relationships with suppliers to ensure Purolator always attains the optimum cost of ownership while ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership with suppliers.



  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a well-regarded multi-billion organization, recognized for advanced procurement processes and systems.
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degree(s) in a related field.
  • A strong desire to understand the business and drive results.
  • Proficiency and systems experience with SAP Ariba, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in category management is an asset
  • Cognizance of strategic procurement best practices, net markets and emerging technologies.
  • Regarded as an exceptional communicator, influencer and negotiator.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leaders.
  • Lead and support negotiations in major transactions, excellent facilitator, with strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen; drive innovation, change and process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement an overall risk management strategy while balancing the needs of the business.
  • Capable of balancing Procurement activities and processes with the needs of the business to ensure the best and most efficient outcome for the business.
  • Must thrive in complex, fast paced, entrepreneurial working environment.
  • A natural ability to work cross functionally and adopt an end-to-end process perspective as distinct from an organization/silo perspective.
  • Ability to engage the business and build consensus through the development of cross functional relationships and the employment of sound judgement and common sense.
