Systems Integration Test Engineer P3 (Contract)

We are currently looking for an experienced working level Test Engineer for a contract opportunity working with our Calgary Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) Team. As part of the team you will hold a working level tester role, assisting the ITN SI team with definition and execution of integration activities as part of the ITN task. The successful candidate will participate in and support all integration related activities for the task, by applying engineering knowledge and techniques to write, execute and report on all test activities in an increasingly independent manner.

The duties of the Working level Test Engineer will include, but are not limited to:

  • Review of system and subsystem requirements specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases.
  • Development of system integration and verification test procedures, including configuration descriptions and expected outcomes, in accordance with the design documents and GDMS-C processes.
  • Execute formal and informal test procedures, gather appropriate measures and data. Document all results.
  • Conduct analyses and provide interpretation of test measures and results.
  • Perform investigations to clarify system problem components for further analysis.
  • Write defect and test reports to demonstrate progress, communicate as required.
  • Participate in integrated team activities with system engineering and development engineering teams.
  • Train, lead and mentor more junior test staff in engineering techniques, tools and knowledge in support of effective test activities.
  • Conduct himself/herself professionally at all times, in all meetings and activities, and when included in customer attended events.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical/scientific degree. Candidates with diplomas will be considered with adequate additional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience (Bachelor’s degree) or 7 years’ experience (technical diploma) with the Integration and Verification of complex electronic systems comprising both developmental and COTS/MOTS components
  • Professional Engineering status preferred (APEGA P.Eng or ASET P.Tech(Eng.) accreditation), or eligible to obtain that accreditation.
  • Knowledge and experience with engineering and SIV&V process, including Agile/EDF.
  • Positive approach to learning and trying new things.
  • Experience in defining, developing and executing integration tests for complex functionality, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.
  • Experience in the investigation, recommendations, resolution of complex defects
  • Thorough understanding of the product development life cycle and associated processes and familiarity with radios, voice/data networks, and Internet Protocol (IP).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

Experience with the any of the following tools is highly desirable:

  • WireShark.
  • IXIA.
  • iSource.
  • Bugzilla.
  • Code Collaborator/DM Workflow.
  • RTC.
  • DOORS.
  • Enterprise Architect
  • Microsoft Visio and other Office Suite products.
  • Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest.
