PAL Aerospace is a proud partner of Airbus Defence & Space for the Government of Canada’s Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) aircraft replacement program. Through AirPro Search and Rescue Services (a joint venture between Airbus DS and PAL), the AirPro team will be responsible for fleet management tasks. In addition, PAL Aerospace will be responsible for the In-Service Support which covers all aspects of the maintenance work not undertaken by Royal Canadian Air Force technicians. It will include high value work such as repairs, 2nd and 3rd level maintenance, future modification work and depot level maintenance of the aircraft.

This significant and exciting project will pave the way for innovation and opportunity within PAL Aerospace, while growing our operations. To expand our current team, PAL Aerospace is currently looking for a Technical Material Manager (TMM) to join the PAL Aerospace FWSAR team in the Ottawa, ON region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and managing the end-to-end supply chain.
  • Initial Parts List (IPL) and spares consumption monitoring – coordinating the demand and resupply of spares, inventory optimization as well as the enforcement of supply discipline. This includes Reorder Point (ROP) management.
  • Monitoring daily operations at each MOB and the MRO/CW to ensure the ready availability of all items required to effectively support the FWSAR fleet.
  • Ensuring the delivery of required materiel IAW the appropriate quality standard.
  • Monitoring/managing inbound & outbound transportation throughout the network, as necessary, including liaison with transportation service providers
  • AOG oversight and management as required (for both domestic & international shipments)
  • Ensuring the fulfillment of contractual requirements (with Supply Chain Specialist)
  • R&O management including processing repair order requests from the MOBs/MRO-CW
  • Monitor quality rejections and follow-up as necessary
  • Checking warranties and collecting or issuing warranty claims (as applicable)
  • Provide support to the AirPro Materiel Co-ordination Centre team with the following tasks:
    1. Support deployment planning, coordination and sustainment;
    2. Consumption monitoring;
    3. Operational & strategic level forecasting;
    4. Analyzing discrepancy root causes and defining/recommending corrective action;
    5. KPI reporting and developing periodic reports for IPT management;
    6. Participating in periodic site visits/audits of FWSAR facilities; and
    7. Supporting continual improvement process initiatives (i.e. Lean or 6 ∑).


  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering is preferred;
  • Technical diploma and/or relevant military training and experience will also be considered;
  • 3 years’ experience in a relevant aerospace In-Service support position;
  • Experience in effectively analyzing life cycle data to direct the disposition of spare asset;
  • Strong operational IT knowledge;
  • Experience in a technical or highly analytical environment;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast paced environment;
  • Critical thinker with careful consideration for detail and accuracy;
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations (Technical Airworthiness Manual) is an asset;
  • Knowledge of DRMIS is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite of software products;
  • Must be able to attain Secret Security Clearance; and
  • Must be able to travel within Canada and internationally as required.
