Tenure-Track Position in Information Systems
Desautels Faculty of Management
McGill University
Position Summary
McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management and the Bensadoun School of Retail Management (BSRM) at McGill University invite applications for one open-rank (i.e., Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) tenure-track position in the Information Systems Area. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026. The position is open to candidates with a Ph.D in Information Systems or related fields, as well as to applicants demonstrating outstanding potential who are doctoral students in those fields and plan to have completed the requirements for their Ph.D. by December 2026. The position is open to candidates in any area of specialization within IS disciplines, with a preference for candidates whose research interests are in retail and relate to the faculty priority areas of Innovation, Analytics, AI & Advanced Digital Technologies, Sustainability, or Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.
The
Bensadoun School of Retail Management (BSRM)
at McGill University is a globally oriented, interdisciplinary hub for retail management research and education. As part of the Desautels Faculty of Management, BSRM offers programs at the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and executive levels, and partners with leading industry organizations worldwide.
BSRM’s mission is to shape the future of retail through innovative research that draws on expertise across Desautels and McGill—from Computer Science and Engineering to Sustainability, Public Policy, and Health. The Desautels Faculty is home to over 100 full-time academic staff, many of whom are actively engaged in retail-focused research, making BSRM a dynamic environment for scholars passionate about retail transformation.
While the Desautels Faculty of Management is organized by traditional functional areas (e.g., Information Systems, Accounting, Organizational Behavior, etc.), BSRM intends to break down disciplinary barriers. The goal is to envision and deliver a “real-time” retail experience that equips the next generation of retail leaders with the tools, knowledge, and skills required to meet the demands of the present retail industry, and above all to help shape its future. An ideal candidate would contribute to the School’s research, teaching, and outreach goals, while also being affiliated with Information Systems. However, other candidates will be considered.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to advance a cutting-edge, compelling, and impactful research agenda. The ideal candidate will have evidence of effective teaching, an experience-appropriate record of research, and a clear promise of conducting innovative and important research publishable in the top Information Systems journals, such as those listed on the
Desautels 22
. Successful candidates are also expected to work actively with doctoral students, to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs, and contribute to the administration of the Area and Faculty.
