Position Summary Reporting to the Vice President, Quality and Safety, the Quality and Safety Inspector – Flight Operations is responsible for ensuring that assigned investigations, Quality Assurance (QA) audits, and Quality Control (QC) checks are completed in an unbiased, objective, professional and timely manner in accordance with the SMS Manual and Quality Manual. The Quality and Safety Inspector will also work to complete SMS report validations as assigned. Personal Characteristics Highly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environment Professional and respectful, with a positive work attitude Timely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essential Motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective verbal and written communication skills High level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communities Able to deal with confidential information and documentation with discretion, sensitivity and tact Strong attention to detail Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Analyze reports to identify hazards, risks and immediate actions required Conduct assigned investigations, audits and validations in an unbiased manner within prescribed timelines Chair program-related meetings and safety committee level meetings as required Work with department heads to develop and continually improve program-associated policies, procedures and training Understand current legislation, codes of practice, bulletins and other safe work practices and recommendations Perform audit activities as assigned, complete audit reports and summaries Advise department heads of any regulatory or procedural shortcomings observed through Audit, Investigation or Evaluation activities Generate findings, in consultation with the VP Quality and Safety, where non-compliance with regulations or non-conformance with company standards, policies or procedures is observed Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System and Quality Assurance Programs Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and friendly working relationship with other company departments Perform additional duties as assigned Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent Completion of a Private Pilot Licence Successful completion of a Commercial Pilot Ground School, achieved through participation in a recognized commercial pilot ground school program, or enrollment in our in-house commercial pilot ground school program Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations Previous experience with a Safety Management Software System considered an asset Previous experience with an Aviation Management Software System considered an asset (WinAir/VMO preferred) Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset Working Conditions Physically able to perform all listed job duties Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role Work performed primarily in an office environment Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephone Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions Methods and procedures described or implied in the job profile may be altered to accommodate employees.
