Position Title: Continuous Improvement Coordinator Co-op
Who We Are STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Continuous Improvement Coordinator Co-op to join our team.
What You Will Do
- Support the Lean & continuous team in championing lean thinking and behaviors to promote a continuous improvement culture.
- Learn and utilize lean tools and methodologies to resolve problems and improve existing operations and processes.
- Support the development of process maps as part of process improvement exercises
- Support the project’s lessons learned initiatives
- Work with project teams to improve operations, identify constraints, and support the CI team to develop countermeasures.
- Analyze/support improvements to existing work practices by identifying and eliminating wastes.
- Learn and support implementation of Last Planner System®.
- Act as scribe for select meetings and support the CI coordinator in establishing and distributing proper agendas, tracking meeting outputs, and general administration.
- Support the development of CI documents and presentations to be used for education, training, and a library of lean resources.
Experience You Will Bring
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, engineering, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated application of deploying problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience with large, complex infrastructures projects with multiple interfaces would be good to have.
- Able to engage with team and manage project support outcomes.
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, accurately and under pressure.
- Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with MS Office applications - MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Access
- Experience with tools like SharePoint, P6, Mural / Miro, Power Apps and Power BI would be nice-to-have

About Scarborough Transit Connect
The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres farther into Scarborough.
It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city.
To deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension as quickly as possible, construction has been split into two contracts – an advanced tunneling contract that is already underway, and the stations, rail and systems (SRS) contract. The SRS contract is kicking off with a development phase before the construction phase begins, with Scarborough Transit Connect selected as the partner for the development phase.
This consortium is made up of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc., and FCC Canada Ltd.
