The AT Collaboration Scientist is a 2 Year Term role. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching trends and developments in a defined technology area (AT) and provide support to the local customer and derives respective suggestions to R&D Management.
As an AT Collaboration Scientist (2 Year Term), you will be responsible for:
- Providing research and development support for our customers at Western University, in Canada and collaborating Academic Hospitals
- Participating in academic and clinical research at/and for, Western University
- Developing new AT techniques and algorithms, and reconstruction strategies
- Providing logistical support to research customers including negotiation and maintenance of project agreements
- Performing regular quality testing

Required skills to have for the success of this role:
- Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Imaging Physics, or a related field
- Experience and expertise in X-ray–based angiographic imaging, including digital subtraction angiography (DSA), fluoroscopy, and interventional imaging workflows; experience with the Siemens ARTIS platform is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in angiographic image reconstruction and analysis, including subtraction imaging techniques, motion compensation, and artifact reduction
- Knowledge of angiography system data structures, acquisition protocols, and network configurations, particularly within Siemens ARTIS or comparable flat-panel detector systems
- Expertise in software programming, algorithm development, and application design for medical imaging, including dose-optimization algorithms, real-time processing, and advanced reconstruction; knowledge of machine-learning–based image enhancement or reconstruction is an asset
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB and Python for image processing, machine learning, registration, segmentation, and reconstruction (experience with Julia is preferred but not required)
- Experience with vendor-specific tools for angiography system customization, including image-processing pipelines, system calibration workflows, or detector performance characterization (experience with Siemens syngo X-workplace or ARTIS research interfaces is an asset)
- Working knowledge of the DICOM standard and network protocols relevant to acquisition, storage, and transmission of angiographic and fluoroscopic data
- Expertise in flat-panel detector technology, including performance metrics, calibration, noise reduction, and image-quality optimization, is an asset
- Experience in dose-reduction strategies for interventional and angiographic imaging, including simulation, modeling, or clinical implementation
- Experience with in vivo angiography studies or preclinical imaging is an asset
- Outstanding scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks effectively
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a collaborative research environment
The expected Compensation for this position is: $47.49 - $67.95 CAD per hour (+4%) Factors which may affect starting compensation within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
