About the role
The Engineering Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to drive a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and deployment of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead efforts to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned framework.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Focus Areas
- Standardized Deployment Frameworks: Define reusable, structured provisioning templates to simplify deployment while ensuring compliance and consistency.
- Automated Recovery & Failover: Implement automation for system start/stop/restart to reduce downtime and improve continuity of operations.
- Secure & Efficient Access Management: Enhance authentication, authorization, and credential lifecycle processes to strengthen security and operational efficiency.
- Identity & Access Governance: Streamline end‑to‑end identity management and integration processes across platforms while maintaining robust security controls.
Engineering & Technology Leadership
- Deliver functional objectives to Operations & Technology (O&T) partners.
- Oversee O&T spending to ensure alignment with CTO strategic priorities and financial plans.
- Manage the execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the assigned technology domain.
- Drive operational readiness and compliance with global operational standards.
- Apply deep engineering and commercial insight to inform decisions and strategy.
- Provide coaching, performance management, and career development support to team members.
- Evaluate complex situations using multiple data sources to make informed decisions.
- Lead planning, budgeting, policy development, and end‑to‑end engineering delivery.
- Partner and negotiate with senior leaders across functions and external vendors.
- Ensure adherence to Citi’s risk, control, and compliance expectations in all activities.
Delivery & Execution
- Oversee end‑to‑end project execution, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
- Drive completion of project milestones, risk mitigation, dependencies, and BCP plans.
- Monitor and manage financials, long‑term strategy, policies, and inventory orchestration.
- Ensure project and change management controls meet regulatory and internal standards.
- Deliver operational and performance reporting to senior leadership.
- Research and resolve complex issues, escalating as appropriate.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all engineering activities adhere to documented policies, procedures, and controls.
- Maintain strong business controls aligned with internal, industry, and regulatory expectations.
- Apply sound ethical judgment in assessing and managing risk during decision‑making.
- Create a culture of accountability, particularly in maintaining compliance and security standards.
- Contribute to defining best practices and standardized processes to enhance efficiency and consistency across teams.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant engineering or technology leadership experience.
- Development background; Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) experience is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in engineering design metrics, analytics, benchmarking, and reporting.
- Demonstrated analytical and diagnostic capabilities.
- Experience working in a matrixed environment with geographically distributed teams.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and take ownership of initiatives.
- Strong performance under pressure and in fast‑changing environments.
- Proven success driving operational process improvement and organizational change.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range: $145,100.00 - $217,700.00
