About the role

We are hiring full-time Sous Chefs to join our team at Teeranga Commons Dining Hall on Carleton University campus. Working with the management team on a daily basis, the Sous Chef I oversees all activities of our Cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and cooking food, in addition to managing, training, and providing culinary vision and leadership in a high- volume environment.

About the Job
- Oversee and take part in food production for the operation
- Provide high quality food in a professional and efficient manner
- Resolve customer concerns in a timely and courteous manner
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding menu item preparation, including dietary restrictions and allergies
- Develop and motivate team members by providing culinary leadership and training
- Manage and task culinary staff while maintaining accountability and fostering an engaging culture
- Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe and healthy work environment and compliance with food safety regulations
- Plan and execute food preparation
- Participate in inventory control and manage daily labour schedules
- Ensure adherence to all of Aramark Policies and Procedures
- May perform other job duties as required
About You
- Multiple years in the culinary field
- Professional culinary training is an asset
- Red Seal Certification is an asset
- Passion for food and hospitality
- Excellent people management skills; experience training and supervising team members
- Working knowledge and training on all health & safety standards and sanitation standards i.e. Food Safe, GHS, Health and Safety Policies, food-handling techniques
The selected candidate for this position will need to complete and successfully pass a Criminal Background Check.
