SCOPE
Reporting to the Manager, Web Communications, the incumbent will develop, sustain and enhance the university’s digital communication channels. The incumbent plans, creates, executes and analyses digital content on behalf of University Communications Services (UCS) and its clients. They help develop publishing schedules and ensure that the various stakeholders meet the deadlines imposed by the schedule. Furthermore, the incumbent will support the development of a successful digital communications strategy that contains the appropriate mix of content and method/platform.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Curate selected sections of various websites. Ensure that content is written, delivered and updated according to schedule, tone and required information.
• Create project plans (IA proposals, readiness assessments, impact analysis, implementation plans) for specific website projects.
• Format digital content and determine where it should appear on the university’s public and private sites.
• Collaborate with communications advisors, content marketing specialists, graphic designers, translators and subject matter experts from academic and administrative units to create and update content.
• Train and support content authors from academic and administrative units on how to use the WCMS.
• Improve website and author experience by troubleshooting and documenting bugs.
• Work with the web communications team to continuously improve existing processes, as well as helping to create strategies for new ones.
• Perform housekeeping duties i.e. deactivation and archiving of elements, organizing digital asset management (DAM), resizing images, etc.
• Assist in developing and implementing search-engine optimization strategies.
• Assist in creating content guidelines to improve and maintain the university’s entire digital presence.
• Perform other duties in support of the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of relevant experience working as a webmaster with large-scale websites, including customer service experience to be able to effectively support users and various partner-led initiatives
• Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English in order to review and modify content and help the university community refine and improve their entire digital presence. Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written French.
• Demonstrated ability in writing copy for websites.
• Good design sense and skills.
• Experienced with web content management systems.
• Understanding of UX, user journeys, and their importance in the web content creation process.
• Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
• Writing/editing (especially knowledge of CP Style) is an asset.
• Knowledge of Photoshop or photo formatting is an asset.
• Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is an asset.
• Experience working with large-scale websites is an asset.
• UX Certification (NN/g, HFI) is desirable.
