About the role
Join The Drake Eatery Team!
Since 2014, The Drake Eatery has been Victoria’s go-to spot for West Coast craft beer and locally sourced cuisine. We strive to create a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere where great food, great drinks, and great people come together. Our team reflects the diverse and inclusive community we serve, and we take pride in fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
If you share our passion for hospitality and are ready to join a fun, collaborative team, we’d love to meet you!
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive pay: $18.60 per hour plus pooled tips (typically an additional $9–$11 per hour).
- On-shift perks: Enjoy a meal credit of up to $20 for every shift you work.
- Paid breaks: Receive a paid 30-minute break on shifts over 5 hours.
- Health benefits: Eligible after 6 months of employment.
- Amazing team: Join a supportive, passionate group of people who love what they do.
We’re committed to helping our team grow—whether that means deepening your knowledge of craft beer, sharpening your kitchen skills, or developing into a leadership role.
About the Role
Every member of The Drake team plays a key role in creating a great experience from start to finish. As a member of our Kitchen team, you’ll:
- Cook & prep: Assist with food preparation and cooking, ensuring every dish meets our high standards. Each shift includes a mix of prep and line work, with shared duties across the team.
- Cross-train: Most of our team members are trained in both the kitchen and front of house, fostering a supportive, well-rounded environment. While your initial focus will be in the kitchen, there may be opportunities to learn other roles within the business.
- Collaborate: Work closely with a small, dedicated crew in a fast-paced, fun environment where teamwork is everything.
What You Bring
- Positive attitude: You bring great energy and stay cool under pressure.
- Strong communication: You connect easily with both guests and teammates.
- Adaptability: You’re eager to learn and flexible in handling a variety of tasks.
- Team mindset: You know that a great shift depends on teamwork and mutual support.
Preferred Experience
- Kitchen skills: Familiarity with food prep techniques and safe food handling.
- Service experience: Previous work in restaurant service or customer-facing roles.
- Craft beer knowledge: Interest or experience with craft beer and beer styles.
- Leadership potential: Opportunities for advancement in both Kitchen and Front of House are available for the right fit.
Experience is an asset, but not essential—we value passion, curiosity, and a strong work ethic above all else.
Our Food Program
We work closely with local farms, foragers, and specialty producers to create an approachable yet meticulously crafted menu. Expect to work with top-quality seasonal ingredients, with a focus on preservation, fermentation, and a rotating, ingredient-driven menu.
Our Craft Beer Program
We source the best examples of each style from independent craft breweries and pour from 29 constantly rotating taps to keep things fresh and exciting. Education is key—our goal is to share knowledge and deliver the best possible craft beer experience to our guests.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At The Drake, we celebrate diversity and strive to create a workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and identities, and maintain zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment.
If this sounds like a place you’d love to work, we’d love to hear from you!
