Unqualified SEN Teacher - Specialist Autism Provision Location: Brent, North-West London Job Type: Full time, Long-term Daily Rate: £154.21 - £180.82 PAYE
About the Role Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism and looking to take the next step in your career in Special Educational Needs (SEN)? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brent is seeking an Unqualified SEN Teacher to lead a specialist provision class for pupils with autism (Years 1-4).
This full-time role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong SEN experience to step into a teaching position, supported by a dedicated team that includes four experienced Teaching Assistants and a collaborative SEN department. The class is designed to support pupils in gradually reintegrating into their mainstream year groups.
Key Responsibilities Lead a small, specialist classroom for autistic pupils with challenging needs
Plan and deliver structured lessons in Phonics, Maths, and Writing
Support the development and delivery of individualised learning plans
Promote pupils' communication, social interaction, and independence
Work closely with the SENCO, senior leadership team, and external professionals
Monitor pupil progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
Maintain a calm, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment About the Students All pupils have a formal diagnosis of Autism (ASC)
Mixed-age group: Year 1 to Year 4
A range of communication styles, including non-verbal pupils
Varying academic levels and additional learning needs The Ideal Candidate While formal teaching qualifications are not essential for this role, we are looking for someone who demonstrates:
Experience working with children or young people with Autism and complex SEN
Confidence in leading a small class and managing a team of support staff
Ability to adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and abilities
A calm, structured, and consistent approach to classroom management
Strong teamwork and communication skills
A commitment to inclusive education and to supporting the reintegration of pupils into mainstream learning
