Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented CBA – Maintenance Supervisor I for the Faro Mine Remediation Project to join our team! In this role you will contribute to the safe, and efficient, operation of a mine site remediation project.
Reporting to the Care and Maintenance Superintendent, this position is responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, coordinating work activities, supporting safe work execution, and ensuring maintenance objectives are achieved.
Local candidates are preferred; however, candidates available on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis will also be considered.
This position works a rotational schedule of two (2) weeks on and two (2) weeks off, consisting of 12-hour shifts.
Employees are provided with an LOA allowance and are responsible for providing their own food and meals.
This position includes membership in the United Steelworkers Local 925. The hourly wage for this position is $48.45.
What You'll Be Doing
Supervise maintenance and HEO (heavy equipment operators) personnel and coordinate daily work activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational priorities. Organize and monitor daily maintenance activities and work performance to support operational requirements, minimize downtime and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Communicate daily operational tasks, health and safety and operational needs with both staff and managers Assign work based on employee qualifications, competencies, certifications, and operational requirements. Utilize approved maintenance processes, systems, and CMMS tools, including Maintenance Connection, to manage work orders, notifications, backlog, and performance reporting. Assess worker competencies, clarify worker expectations, provide technical guidance and feedback through training and informal coaching of assigned tasks Lead and facilitate crew, planning, safety, and operational meetings. Facilitate Activity Hazard Assessments (AHAs) and support implementation of Safe Work Practices (SWPs), lift plans, and other required safety documentation. Identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure appropriate controls are implemented to maintain a safe work environment, escalating immediate safety or equipment risks Participate in incident investigations, corrective action development, and incident management processes. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, site procedures, company policies, and safety standards. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with operations, maintenance, planning, safety personnel, management, and other site stakeholders. Identify and report attendance or performance issues to management and refer employees to either their Shop Steward or management as needed.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
Experience operating all on-site equipment (Forklift (any), Skid Steer, Bobcat, Loader, Rock Truck, Backhoe, Excavator, Dozer, Grader.) and auxiliary equipment or Having an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Ticket.
Rigging, lifting, hoisting certificate prerequisites are required
Valid Class 5 Driver's License Computer proficiency including experience with CMMS applications, Microsoft Office, SharePoint and related software products. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, assign work, and hold employees accountable for safe work practices. Strong hazard recognition, risk assessment, incident management, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic field environment. Commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement. Ability to lift 25 kg.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
Previous experience in a Planning or Supervisory role.
Supervisory experience with a unionized workforce would be considered an asset
Experience supervising a multidisciplinary crew Background or education in the Mechanic/Millwright field is preferred. Completion of First Line Leadership training or equivalent supervisory leadership training is considered an asset. LSE training or equivalent leadership and safety excellence training is considered an asset.
