About the role
General Description The Cultural Health Navigator provides engagement and support services to the community, particularly to those that are using drugs and/or struggling with addictions. DutiesDeliver prevention education sessions, harm reduction workshops, and cultural programming to various audiences such as local community organizations, people who use ANHN services, and conferences attendeesEstablish workshop frequency/schedules and manage event promotion/logisticsEngage Elders and Knowledge Keepers to guide and support staff in the design and delivery of cultural programming Identify informed non-Indigenous stakeholders with experience serving Indigenous people effectively; partner in workshop design and delivery; prepare and disseminate new and existing knowledge that has demonstrated desired outcomes and success Design, develop, expand, and integrate services with Awasiw Centre and other ANHN programming to engage persons served (reiki, methadone, traditional healers, sharing circles, etc.) Connect and build relationships as a first point of contact for individuals using ANHN servicesProvide support, navigate referrals, and advocate for persons served related to services (treatment, healing, medical care, housing, etc.). Establish relationships with non-Indigenous expertise, establish service agreements with said expertise, facilitate referrals where needed, and maintain follow-up with persons served QualificationsRelevant post-secondary degree or certificate or equivalent work experience in the fieldRelated experience in trauma-informed care, crisis support, substance use, mental health, and addictionDemonstrated experience working with the complex needs of people experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use Demonstrated knowledge of community agencies and their relevant programs and servicesDemonstrated knowledge of harm reduction practices and Indigenous Knowledge systemsValid class 5 drivers license
