About the role
Reports to: Health and Safety Manager
Summary: The Health and Safety Coordinator develops, administers, and assists in implementing company wide occupational safety programs. The Health and Safety Coordinator assists in the implementation and evaluation of occupational safety programs and training.

Job Duties
-
Responsible for new employee safety orientation, job site inspections and reporting.
-
Maintain awareness of amendments to the Saskatchewan Workplace Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations.
-
Assist in job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations, and Occupational Health and Safety Inspections where necessary.

Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all employees.

Ensure the timely completion of accident/injury reporting to Workers Compensation Board and the Health and Safety Manager.

Assist in the design of safety standards to conform to industry standards and provincial and local regulations.

Assist in the development, and maintenance of Safe Work Procedure for all work stations
-
Assists in the coordination of inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with departments and inspection check lists.

Assist in the accident/incident investigation process identifying root causes and corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence

Manage the Material Safety Data Sheet Program

Manage all communication boards
-
Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures.

Conduct joint health and safety committee meetings.

Assist in scheduling employee safety training as required

Conduct employee safety training as required.

Distribute and track PPE/Prescription Glasses vouchers
-
Other Duties as required
Requirements
-
One to three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
-
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Workplace Safe Practices
-
Strong organizational skills.
-
Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
-
Proficiency with administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office.
-
Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize.
-
Must be a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
-
Willing in training as required
-
Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.

Requires a valid driver’s license and valid passport
