Investissement Québec is a unique organization: it invests, like other funds, at a purely commercial level, but it also administers tax measures, manages tax credits, and acts as a mandatary of the government.
Investissement Québec has close to 500 employees in 17 offices throughout Quebec. Its head office is located in Quebec City. Local expertise is valued among the employees who are most qualified to analyze local projects and propose appropriate financing solutions. Investissement Québec also have employees in 12 international offices to prospect foreign companies wishing to invest in Québec
Until recently, the climate has sometimes been tense between management and employees, who are largely unionized. Following several employee consultations, profound transformations have begun since 2016 that have brought positive results. While the workplace is still very much framed, with many vice-presidents, a shift has been made with the adoption of a new strategy and a change of leadership. The Montreal offices have been redesigned to optimize space and create an open-space collaborative workplace. A tailored onboarding process has been put in place when hiring a new employee and benefits (flexible hours) and various programs (health, training and development) are available.
Investissement Québec has made sustainable development one of its main concerns over the last 10 years. Through its fourth action plan, Investissement Québec has put in place environmental policies that every employee must respect in his daily life. It supports management initiatives, the organization of eco-responsible events and accommodation (during employees' activities or business travels) for example.
Investissement Québec also makes sure to enlarge its own responsible investment practices. These also are values that they share with their corporate clients.
