Position Description
The McGill University Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff as a Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) based at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The MUHC Division of General Internal Medicine is composed of a dynamic group of sub-specialists dedicated to providing high-quality patient-centered care for patients with acute or chronic complex medical conditions, including the care of patients throughout the perioperative period and patients with medical disorders of pregnancy. We practice across the MUHC teaching hospital network that includes the Royal Victoria Hospital, the Montreal General Hospital, the Lachine Hospital, and the Montreal Neurological Hospital. We also provide on-site and telehealth sub-specialty support to the northern communities in Nunavik and Eeyou Istchee. We are a welcoming group of clinicians and researchers who take pride in our nationally renowned programs in hospital medicine, ambulatory care, medical education, perioperative care, obstetric medicine, thrombosis medicine, quality improvement and indigenous community outreach.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will be appointed to clinical practice in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), with a focus on point-of-care ultrasound and curriculum development.

As a Clinician-Educator, you will focus on education research of sufficient caliber to publish in peer-reviewed journals or education administration with a focus on leading/developing world-class training programs. Specifically:
1- Teaching the next generation of physicians, including both didactic and clinical teaching (teaching);
2- Developing, implementing, and/or overseeing the running of our longitudinal point-of-care ultrasound curricula for residents in core and general internal medicine training program (educational innovation and administration);
3- Developing, implementing, and/or overseeing the running of point-of-care ultrasound faculty development initiatives (educational innovation and administration), and;
4- Actively engaging in educational scholarship work related to point-of-care ultrasound (educational scholarship).
Clinical responsibilities will include a commitment to medical inpatient and consultation services (in-patient and emergency departments) across the MUHC network, inpatient and outpatient consultation services, point-of-care ultrasound consultative services across the MUHC network as well as participation in outpatient GIM complex care clinics.
The incumbent will also be expected to be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:
- Hold an MD degree;
- Have completed subspecialty training in General Internal Medicine;
- Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in General Internal Medicine;
- Be eligible for licensure in the province of Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec;
- Have at least one year of advanced training in point-of-care ultrasound for internal medicine;
- Training in medical education and experience in curriculum development will be an asset;
- Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
