Reports to: Senior Manager, Logistics

Purpose of the Role
The Manager, Logistics is responsible for providing leadership to a defined regional area aligned to organizational strategies. Contribute to the broader LifeLabs plan through the implementation of a regional strategy. Foster a continuous improvement culture to take advantage of every available opportunity to drive towards excellence and quality and for overseeing the proper transportation of all goods related to PSC activities and laboratory services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage and coach direct reports to ensure their performance meets present and future needs creating a robust leadership team.
- Accountable for developing and coaching future leadership team members (succession planning).
- Provide strong leadership for improvement initiatives, eliminate obstacles, and monitor improvements for effectiveness.
- Support supervisors in identifying and implementing developmental opportunities as appropriate.
- Create a positive employee relations climate by fostering common goals and vision in an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork.
- Ensure alignment and consistency to Provincial and National Client Services initiatives.
- Builds and fosters relationships with peers, employees, clients and business partners.
- As a member of the Provincial Management and Leadership team, responsible for the execution of a logistics strategy for Ontario and BC that is consistent with Diagnostic sector objectives and goals.
- Overall responsibility for all aspects of transportation and logistics activities in the Region.
- Execute technologies and tools that will improve efficiencies without compromising service and quality.
- Provides leadership and ensures optimal utilization of transportation resources across Diagnostic Testing and Client Services.
- Manages human resources, including selection, onboarding, training, performance management, compensation, disciplinary actions, development and retention, and terminations.
- Provide active leadership and development to all direct and indirect reports, ensuring all individual and team accountabilities are delivered through annual performance programs and that individual performance issues are addressed.
- Monitoring and executing transportation system wide process improvements; development of key performance indicators.
- Responsible to work with Client Service and Testing Managers and Directors responsible for customer service and specimen integrity
- Responsible for ensuring transportation as a system operates effectively regionally and provincially and integrates with the broader operation across the province.
- Accountable for regional budget performance on a day to day and annual basis, predicting and acting quickly upon variances ensuring corrective actions are put in place.
- Ensure Business Recovery Plan preparedness of self and team.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Policies, Procedures, Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations, Ministry of Transportation regulations, safety regulations.
- Participate in critical reviews of key indicators, incidents, audits, inspection and improvement opportunities resulting in effective implementation of corrective actions.
What you bring to the role:
- 3 to 5 years Logistics experience
- Post-secondary and/or college/university education with progressively responsible business experience.
- Operations experience required, health care sector preferred
- Logistics Supervisor experience, a definite asset.
- Requires full valid Driver’s license
- Responsible for logistics and logistics hardware.
- Ability to work collaboratively with LifeLabs and external colleagues for benchmarking and continuous improvement.
- Implement and execute identified best practices
- Demonstrate ability to think strategically as well as be an analytical problem solver.
- Understanding of laboratory operations and knowledge of the industry in general an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement change.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Provincial and national travel to LifeLabs location sites is required.

What We Offer:
Salary range: $81,431 - $103,825 CAD annually (commensurate with experience).
LifeLabs’ compensation programs are commensurate based on the role, skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions, irrespective of gender, race, ethnicity, beliefs, age or any other personal characteristics. Pay programs are communicated regularly in an accessible and transparent manner.
