Your Role & Responsibilities
As our Articling Student, you will gain hands-on experience across a wide spectrum of corporate law. You will work directly with our legal counsel and internal business clients, providing support on substantive legal matters. Your responsibilities will include:
- Commercial & Corporate: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a diverse range of commercial agreements and assisting with corporate subsidiary management, including drafting intercompany agreements, resolutions, and commercial leases.
- Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Participating in due diligence, document review, and other aspects of corporate transactions.
- Intellectual Property : Aiding in the management and enforcement of our IP portfolio, including trademarks and patents.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Assisting with litigation management, including reviewing pleadings, preparing discovery materials, instructing external counsel, and supporting dispute resolution strategies.
- IP, Compliance & Risk Management : Developing and refining corporate policies, conducting internal training, and preparing risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaboration: Liaising with internal stakeholders, external legal counsel, and auditors on a variety of files.
Please note: This role may require some domestic and international travel.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a candidate who is not only academically strong but also possesses the practical skills and personal attributes to thrive in a corporate setting.
- Required Credentials:
- Completed a J.D. or LL.B. degree or received an N.C.A. Certificate of Qualification prior to the start of the articling term.
- Must be a registered student member in the Law Society of Ontario's Lawyer Licensing Process.
